Three Palestine residents were arrested over the weekend after being caught in the act of burglarizing a residence in southeast Anderson County.
According to reports from Anderson County Sheriff Greg Taylor, deputies Gerald Kerr and Don Myers responded to a burglary in progress call on the 200 block of Private Road 5818 at about 9:15 p.m. Sunday.
“The caretaker of the residence had three people detained,” Taylor said. “They were caught trying to take a safe.”
The suspects — Jessica Lyn Frederick, 30, Randall Scott Whitehead, 48, and Billy Wayne Arnold, 41, all of Palestine — were charged with Burglary of a Habitation, with bond set at $50,000 each.
Frederick was also charged with Resisting Arrest, with a bond of $50,000. She and Arnold have already bonded out of the Anderson County Jail, with suspect Randy White still incarcerated as of Monday.
“Frederick put up quite a fight,” the sheriff said about the suspect’s resisting charge. “She tried to climb out of the patrol car and was screaming at the officers.”
Taylor reported that Arnold and Whitehead are believed to have been involved in other burglaries in the area, and that further charges could be filed against them.
The safe that suspects had attempted to steal was recovered, the sheriff said, and its only contents were the ashes of the homeowner’s deceased spouse.
