Palestine will honor one of its own Saturday.
Minnesota Viking running back and Palestine High School alum Adrian Peterson will be the grand marshal in a parade in his honor, which kicks off at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 22, in downtown Palestine.
After the parade, the Adrian Peterson Day activities will move to Davey Dogwood Park, where the public is invited to bring chairs, blankets, food and drinks to help celebrate the NFL star.
There will be food vendors available as well, along with music, games and entertainment.
Peterson came within nine yards of setting the National Football League’s single-season rushing record last year. He also had to bounce back from two surgeries, but officials said he’s in good condition going into the team’s off-season practice camps.
Peterson also has endorsement deals with Nike, Castrol Edge motor oil and the EpiPen emergency epinephrine injector – the latter after discovering he’s allergic to shrimp, scallops and lobster.
