Anderson County man arrested for sexual assault of 16-year-old girl

PALESTINE — A county man awaited arraignment in the Anderson County jail Friday, after his same-day arrest for an ongoing sexual relationship with a 16-year-old female.

According to Anderson County Sheriff Greg Taylor, 38-year-old Jessie Clayton Honeycutt was arrested at 9 a.m. Friday at his residence on ACR 142.

“His arrest stems from an outcry we received from the victim on June 2,” Taylor said. “ACSO investigator Sgt. Ronnie Foster conducted the investigation and a search and arrest warrant was executed on Friday.”

According to reports from Taylor, the suspect and victim had several sexual encounters during their 3-4 month involvement.

“We did find some physical evidence of that at the suspect’s residence during the search,” the sheriff said.

Honeycutt is charged with Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child, with no bond current set on the suspect.

Taylor issued a warning to parents, reminding them of the importance of monitoring their children’s whereabouts — who they are spending time with both physically and online.

“In this case, the suspect is an acquaintance of the victim’s mother,” the sheriff said. “And unfortunately, cases like this are all too prevalent in today’s society.”
