In a joint effort with the Teague Police Department and the Freestone County Sheriff’s Office, the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant and recovered more than $30,000 in stolen property Thursday.
According to Sheriff Greg Taylor, District Judge Bascom W. Bentley III issued a warrant to search a residence located at the 400 block of Private Road 8608 in the Cayuga area at 6:20 p.m. Thursday.
“Our investigators Sgts. Ronnie Foster and Lee Duren led the investigation and warrant search,” Taylor said. “Precinct 2 Constable Doug Lightfoot also assisted at the scene.”
Recovered items included a Ferris 0-turn mower valued at $12,000 and reported stolen from the City of Teague in 2010; a camper trailer valued at $14,000 and reported stolen from Smith County in 2010; and a Polaris ATV, valued at $8,000, and an accompanying trailer, both reported stolen from Freestone County.
“We did not make an arrest in the case yet,” the sheriff said. “A subject at the residence has been brought in and has been cooperative in questioning — he led officers to a location in Henderson County where more stolen property was recovered.
“We are still trying to determine how involved they are in the case and who else might be part of it,” Taylor added.
