Dogwood Jamboree Christmas show set Dec. 8

PALESTINE — Four young singers with a passion for music will vie for the title of 2012 Talent Search Artist of the Year at the upcoming Dogwood Jamboree’s show.

The Dogwood Jamboree’s “A Country Christmas”  production is set for 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8 at the Palestine Civic Center.

Finalists from the earlier Dogwood Jamboree shows held throughout the year will compete for the title, a cash award and a $500 photo opportunity from Lee Loveless Photography.

“All of these young people competing in the finals are excited,” Dogwood Jamboree Producer Dan Manuel said Friday. “The winner on the show will be selected by a panel of judges and audience vote.”

Finalists include:

• Allison Sanchez — Allison Sanchez, 11, attends Story Elementary. She sings at her church and loves to entertain. She won the talent search contest at the March show.

• Abby Clark — Abby Clark, 14, is in the eighth grade at Elkhart Middle School. She loves to sing, act, cheer and do gymnastics. She sings mostly at her church. She also has performed the national anthem at the Relay for Life event and at softball games. She was the winner of the June show. She is performing in the Palestine Community Theatre’s upcoming production of “The Christmas Carol.”

• Taylor Heard — Taylor Heard is a senior at Omaha High School. She has a mature, unique sound all her own, but many compare her to Patsy Cline, Reba McEntire and Shania Twain. Having come from a musical background, Taylor began singing and claiming the stage at age 3, writing songs by age 7 and teaching herself to play guitar at 12. In her future, she plans to take her music as far as she can and wants to give back to those who have helped her along the way. She was the winner of the August show.

• Casey Henderson — Casey Henderson, 18, has been entertaining for several years, singing country music and playing the guitar. He is a senior at Jacksonville High School. He has appeared on the Dogwood Jamboree on other occasions and was the October show winner. Henderson appeared on several venues and appeals to the audience.
