PALESTINE — With temperatures this week expected in the high 90s, those without adequate cooling in their home can suffer from the heat.

Thanks to donations from two local car dealerships, Meals on Wheels of Palestine Inc. has purchased 50 box fans and will be giving them out to the public.

“The fans will be available for pickup at the Palestine Senior Activity Center. Only one per family will be allowed, with preference going to the elderly,” MOW Executive Director Lois Durant said.

The fans will be available starting Thursday. Families receiving a fan will have to fill out a form with their name and address.

The center, located at 200 N. Church St., is open from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Donations for the fans were received from Bob Snow at Champion Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep and Fernando Varela of All Star Ford.
