PALESTINE — In addition to running back, Adrian Peterson is giving back this season through his All Day Foundation, which will be handing out toys to preselected families today at the Palestine Senior Activities Center.
Peterson's mother and president of the Foundation Bonita Jackson said that the Palestine native and Minnesota Vikings player just wants to make a difference in the lives of some local families at Christmas.
“We're just trying to do something special for Anderson County,” Jackson said.
She said earlier this year, the foundation fed 300 families with “turkeys and all the fixings” for Thanksgiving.
“And Adrian just wants to extend it through the Christmas holidays and make it an ongoing process,” Jackson added. “We just want to reach out to the less fortunate that might not be able to go out and get a toy or a pair of shoes.”
She said this was the first year the foundation has given gifts at Christmas, and she hoped their efforts would “put a smile on a kid's face.”
The All Day Foundation raises awareness and funds for programs that inspire hope and build a better future for at-risk children, with a special focus on girls’ empowerment, according to its website. The foundation partners with nonprofits to make an impact in three focus areas: Girls' empowerment, Children and families, and AD hometown programs.
