Chamber's Frost Fest to begin Friday

PALESTINE — Get ready to snow tube!

The Palestine Area Chamber of Commerce's Frost Fest events postponed a couple of weeks ago due to weather are scheduled to take place this weekend.

Activities set for Friday include the snow tubing slide, ice skating and Frosty Mug Beer Garden.

“We are very excited about the snow tubing slide,” Palestine Area Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Marc Mitchell said. “This 110 foot snow tubing slide promises to be a huge attraction for fun seekers of all ages and will draw not only local families, but also many new visitors to Palestine from the entire Piney Woods region.

“The slide will be conveniently located in the heart of historic downtown Palestine, and will have real snow and ice!”

The snow tube will only be in Palestine on Friday and will be open from noon to 9 p.m. Cost is $3 for one slide, $5 for two slides, $10 for five slides and $17 for 10 slides.

“We are expecting a large turnout for the snow tubing, and are encouraging people to come down early,” Mitchell said.

The ice skating rink will be open from noon to 9 p.m. on Friday. Ice skating costs $10 and includes skates for one hour of skating.

Frosty Mug Beer Garden will be open from 3 to 9 p.m. Friday.

On Saturday, rescheduled entertainment and peddlers will be in downtown area and ice skating will be available.

The announcing of the contest winners also will take place on Saturday. Currently, applications for the

Gingerbread Contest and the Beard Contest are still being accepted, and can be picked up at the Chamber office.
