PALESTINE — A 65-year-old local man awaited arraignment Friday after his early morning arrest for aggravated sexual assault of a child by Anderson County Sheriff’s Office Investigators.

According to Sheriff Greg Taylor, Donald Eugene Hogan, 65, of Palestine, was arrested at about 8 a.m. Friday at his residence on Anderson County Road 4251, after investigators obtained a warrant.

“A 12-year-old made an outcry on Monday and the subsequent investigation culminated into Hogan’s arrest,” Taylor said. “We believe that the sexual assault occurred more than once between the individual and the child.”

Taylor reported that the ACSO tactical team made forcible entry into the suspect’s residence and found numerous items of evidence there.

“We are now awaiting bond on him,” the sheriff said. “With crimes like these, involving children, we are especially glad to get him off the street.”

The sheriff also reported that, unfortunately, there may be other victims and he hopes that they will come forward.

Anyone with information or who may be a victim should contact the sheriff’s office at 903-729-6068 and ask for either investigator Ryan Tolliver or Ronnie Foster.

Aggravated sexual assault of a child is a first degree felony.
