PALESTINE —

Due to the recent storms, many residents have fallen limbs and trees that were damaged and need to be composted.

The City of Palestine Public Works Department is offering an extended schedule at the city compost site this week only to assist with citizen cleanup.

The city compost site, located at 1630 N. Spring St. (off U.S. 287/TX 19), will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. daily today through this Sunday.

The city also offers curbside limb pickup through its trash collection services, held on the resident’s second trash day of each week. Limbs must be bundled in 3-foot lengths and bagged leaves count toward the 20-bag pickup limit.

A thunderstorm made its way through the Palestine area on Friday, bringing with it hail, lightning and strong winds that caused multiple power outages and fallen trees and limbs.
