As part of a book tour, New York Times best-selling author Beverly Lewis will be coming to Palestine for a book discussion and signing on April 11.
Lewis, who writes Christian fiction, will be appearing at bookstores and libraries in Texas and Louisiana during her tour April 2-12 to meet fans and sign copies of her latest novel, “The Last Bride,” book No. 5 in the Home to Hickory Hollow Series.
Lewis will be at the Palestine library at 10 a.m. Friday, April 11 for the free event. After her book discussion, the author will be signing books for the audience.
“She's a very popular author with our library patrons, so when her publicist contacted us to see if we wanted to do a program here, of course we said yes. It is a great honor to have an author of her caliber,” Palestine Public Library Adult Services Librarian Ana Sanchez said. “Our patrons who have heard about it are as excited as we are — they can't believe she's coming!”
Lewis has written more than 80 books for children, youth, and adults, many of them award-winning.
Lewis' adult fiction series are Amish life related novels inspired by her mother’s Plain heritage.
Lewis has also written novels for all ages including picture books. Her first book was published by Bethany House in 1993, “Holly’s First Love” written for pre-teen girls, and the first of a 14-book series.
She moved on to write The Cul-de-Sac Kids book series. She also wrote Summer Hill Secrets.
But her first adult fiction story she published in 1997, “The Shunning,” which is part of The Heritage of Lancaster series that later became a movie on the Hallmark Channel. Some of her other books have also been produced as movies on the Hallmark Channel.
