‘Puccini & Pasta’ to benefit Arts in Education

PALESTINE — CROCKETT — The Piney Woods Fine Arts Association will hold its annual gala benefiting arts in education with the theme “Puccini & Pasta” on April 20.

The event will feature live entertainment, live and silent auctions, dinner and more. The event will start at 7 p.m. at Carrabba’s LaBella Vista in Crockett. All proceeds from this event go to the PWFAA’s Arts in Education programs benefiting the children of Houston and the surrounding counties.

“PWFAA has been providing arts education programs to students in Houston and the surrounding counties for 21 years. We strive to educate and enrich the children through exposure to the visual and performing arts. We have had great success because of the continued support from the community,” a PWFAA news release said. “Arts education programs benefit children in many ways; from developing cognitive thinking skills to boosting self-confidence and esteem, these programs ensure our children become the best students they can be.”

Some of the items up for bid in the auctions include but are not limited to, a Branson, Mo. vacation package, a trip to Canada,  a lady’s white gold and sapphire tennis bracelet, VIP passes for the Texas State Railroad and more.

“With authentic Italian cuisine served for dinner, this will be a fun-filled evening for all who attend. The support generated at the Gala will allow the PWFAA to continue providing and expanding its Arts in Education programs,” the news release said.

Tickets are $40. A table for eight is $800. Each table reserved supports four scholarship students for one week at the Jim Jeffries Summer Arts Workshop.

The dress for the evening is cocktail attire and RSVPs are required.
