Pancake breakfast to help foster children

PALESTINE — As a way to raise funds for local children in foster care who may have special or emergency needs, a pancake breakfast is planned Tuesday.

The Shrove Tuesday all-you-can-eat pancake event will be held from 8 to 9:30 a.m. at Dogwood Trails Assisted Living & Memory Care Center. Cost is $5 with proceeds going to Anderson County Child Welfare Board Special Needs Fund.

Dogwood Trails Assisted Living, Jordan Health Care, Grace Visiting Nurses and DME, Encompass Home Health, IntegraCare, Vietnam Veterans of America/Associates of VVA Chapter 991 and the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 927 will have its own pancake stations, making specialty pancakes.

“I urge everyone to come out and enjoy a great breakfast and help support the Rainbow Room and the Child Welfare Board in providing activities and needed items for some of our less fortunate Anderson County children,” Anderson County Child Welfare Board Member Joe Coleman said.

Following the pancake breakfast, gospel singer Miles Pike will perform at 10 a.m.

Dogwood Trails Assisted Living is located at 1625 W. Spring St.
