A two-vehicle wreck on West Oak Street Thursday night left one man dead and two people critically injured, according to Palestine police.
Sgt. Gabriel Green said the wreck occurred around 9:24 p.m. in the 4200 block of W. Oak Street when a Chevy Blazer collided head on with a Ford F250 pickup that was pulling a trailer.
According to Green, the driver of the Blazer, Cody Morgan, 22, of Palestine, veered into oncoming traffic and hit the pickup, which was traveling east on W. Oak Street.
Morgan was pronounced dead by Anderson County Justice of the Peace James Westley, according to Green.
Two people in the pickup, Nathan Rush, 54, and Theresa Rush, 57, both of Elgin, Texas, were transported to Palestine Regional Medical Center and then flown by CareFlight to Tyler hospitals.
As of Friday afternoon, Theresa Rush was in stable condition at Trinity Mother Frances Hospital in Tyler, Green said. Nathan Rush also was in stable condition at East Texas Medical Center in Tyler.
The wreck is still under investigation, according to Green.
Officer Cody Lusk responded to the wreck first and was aided by detectives Cathy Weber and David Kassaw.
