PALESTINE — A routine warrant service by Anderson County Sheriff Office deputies on Sunday led to the drug-related arrest of a Palestine man found in possession of illegal drugs.

According to Sheriff Greg Taylor, suspect James Troy Yelverton (in his late 30’s), was arrested at about 7:55 p.m. on Sunday at a residence on Linden Drive by ACSO Deputy Ronnie Howell.

“Howell was there to serve a warrant for the charge of driving while intoxicated with a child passenger,” Taylor said. “The deputy found a small amount (less than 1 gram) of methamphetamine in the suspect’s pocket.”

In addition to the warrant, Yelverton was charged with possession of a controlled substance PG1 less than 1 gram and was given a $7,500 bond for that charge.
