Two Palestine men jailed for drugs

Two Palestine men awaited arraignment in the Anderson County Jail on Monday after their early-morning arrest for multiple drug-related charges just south of the Palestine city limits.

According to Sheriff Greg Taylor, the pair were arrested at about 3:30 a.m. Monday after deputy Johnny Gorden witnessed them attempting to secret what he suspected to be drugs.

“Gorden was patrolling on County Road 142, and saw a van with four occupants stopped in the middle of the road,” Taylor said. “He saw them driving backwards in the wrong lane and watched the two suspects exit the vehicle, a van, and walk to a fence.”

Gorden, assisted by Deputy Herman Linam, arrested Brandon Lee Lively, 26, and Cody James Lively, 21, both of Palestine, after a search of the area behind the fence.

“They found a glass pipe that field tested positive for methamphetamine and marijuana,” the sheriff said.

Brandon Lively was arrested for possession of a controlled substance-PG1 less than 1 gram, tampering with evidence, possession of marijuana – less than 2 ounces and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Cody Lively was arrested for the same charges, except for possession of marijuana.

According to the sheriff, the pair had not yet been arraigned, but were likely to see the judge on Tuesday morning.

The two other occupants of the vehicle were released at the scene.
