Three Rusk men jailed for assault with pipe

PALESTINE — Three Rusk residents remained in the Anderson County Jail on Monday after being arrested Sunday for allegedly assaulting a Frankston man with a pipe and injuring another bystander.

According to Anderson County Sheriff Greg Taylor, ACSO Deputy Wes Dean and Sgt. Billy Bishop responded to a disturbance call at about 7 p.m. Sunday at the Deep End Marina, located at FM 1892 near Lake Palestine.

“Three suspects, all from Rusk, had assaulted a man with a pipe,” the sheriff said. “A female, trying to help the victim was hit in the hand and received some lacerations.

“The male victim received injures to is head and ribs,” he added. “He was treated at the scene and refused medical transport.”

A local game warden and Frankston police responded to the scene as well.

Suspects arrested and charged with two counts of assault with a deadly weapon were Anthony DeWayne Wooddell, 23; Mark Anthony Uribe-Duran, 23; and Daniel Duran, 18.

Bond was set a $10,000 per charge, with a total bond of $20,000 per suspect.

“We don’t really know why the assault occurred,” Taylor said. “All we do know is that drinking was involved.”
