A Palestine woman died early Friday morning after her car crashed into a cement curb and rolled over on the driver's side.
According to Palestine Police Lt. James Muniz, Katie Britton, 20, of Palestine, was traveling in the northbound lane on South Loop 256 around 3 a.m. when the wreck occurred.
“She drove off the roadway for whatever reason, she overcorrected and went back up the roadway, and I believe the vehicle rolled over on its side,” Muniz said. “I think it ended up on the driver's side. It was a 2005 Ford Focus.”
Muniz said no other people or vehicles were involved in the wreck.
Britton was taken by EMS to Palestine Regional Medical Center, where she was later pronounced dead.
Muniz said it is unknown if alcohol was involved.
“I can't confirm yet, but I think they sent her in for an autopsy.”
