A suspect sought for the alleged sexual assault of a 15-year-old girl was captured in the early morning hours Friday by Palestine Police Department officers.
According to Anderson County Sheriff Greg Taylor, suspect Justin Allen Rose, 24, of the Palestine area was taken in to custody just prior to 2 a.m. on Friday. He remained in jail on a $500,000 bond on a sexual assault of a child warrant.
Rose was being sought by law enforcement for allegedly forcing himself upon a 15-year-old female at a county residence earlier this week.
“The two were at a house together with other people,” Taylor reported on Thursday. “They were put in a situation were they were left alone and the suspect was reported to have forced himself upon the girl.”
The girl made an outcry to the Palestine Police Department on Monday, who passed the case to the ACSO as it took place just outside of the Palestine city limits, the sheriff said.
ACSO Investigator Brian Chason followed up on the case, obtaining a warrant for Rose's arrest on Tuesday.
“(The suspect) is from this area, but he really doesn't have a permanent residence,” Taylor said. “He is sort of a drifter.”
Rose does have a criminal record, the sheriff said, having been jailed for criminal trespass in August 2013 and several other times previously.
