The Anderson County Sheriff's Office has announced the promotion of two of its jail employees this week.
T.J. Choate was promoted to Jail Captain/Administrator after most recently serving as a jail lieutenant for the department. He has worked with the ACSO since 2001, starting as a jailer and working his way up through the ranks of shift sergeant and shop sergeant.
Choate attended East Texas Police Academy and became a Texas peace officer in 2008.
“Choate replaces former jail captain James Sharp, who was elected as the new Precinct 4 Justice of the the Peace,” Anderson County Sheriff Greg Taylor said. “He left early to work as an investigator for the district attorney's office until he starts as JP in January.”
Promoted to Choate's spot as jail lieutenant is Tia Pierson, who most recently served as a jailer and training sergeant for the jail. She began her employment with the ACSO in 2007. She attended East Texas Police Academy and became a Texas peace officer in 2013.
“We are very proud of Choate and Pierson,” Taylor said. “Both of them have been with us for quite some time.
“We are looking forward to having them at the jail and feel that both of them will provide a new perspective on the running of the jail.”
