Several holiday Frost Fest events planned in the downtown area have been moved to today.

Some of the events were rescheduled due to the 80 percent chance of rain and thunderstorms on Saturday.

The rescheduled Frost Fest activities will be held only today. Peddlers and food booths will fill the downtown Palestine area around the ice skating rink from noon to 9 p.m.

The snow tube will open from noon to 9 p.m. today. Cost is $3 for one slide, $5 for two slides, $10 for five slides and $17 for 10 slides.

“We are very excited about the snow tubing slide,” Palestine Area Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Marc Mitchell said. “This 110 foot snow tubing slide promises to be a huge attraction for fun seekers of all ages and will draw not only local families, but also many new visitors to Palestine from the entire Piney Woods region.

The slide, located in the heart of historic downtown Palestine, will have real snow and ice.

“We are expecting a large turnout for the snow tubing, and are encouraging people to come down early,” Mitchell said.

Frosty Mug Beer Garden will be open from 3 to 9 p.m. in the downtown area, open to all adults age 21 and older (identification is required).

Gingerbread, beard and lighting contest winners will be announced at 6 p.m.
