Anderson County Commissioners announced Thursday that work will begin on a bridge on Anderson County Road 2933 (in Precinct 2), reporting that a temporary bridge is in place for use until the project is completed.
Precinct 2 Commissioner Rashad Q. Mims I announced that the use of the temporary one-lane detour bridge — located right by the new bridge — will begin on Monday.
“Residents have been notified about the change as well as local school districts that use the bridge,” Mims said. “The temporary bridge is capable of school bus and fire engine travel.”
The bridge washed out at about 10:30 a.m. on Nov. 23 after a deluge of heavy rainfall soaked the area, with Precinct 2 Road and Bridge workers working until about 10 p.m. that day to make sure the bridge passable.
“There were about 25 homeowners and multiple land owners affected by the washout,” Mims said in November.
