One Palestine man remains in the hospital and another Palestine man is behind bars after a shooting Wednesday.
According to police reports, around 3:45 p.m. Wednesday, Palestine Police Department responded to the Palestine Regional Medical Center (PRMC) after receiving a report from hospital officials that Brandon Lee Lively, 26, had been brought in with a gunshot wound to the chest.
Later the same day, Lively was transferred to a Tyler hospital by air ambulance. He was listed in critical but stable condition on Thursday.
“Police also received a 911 call that advised the shooting incident had taken place in the 100 block of West Huffsmith Street,” PPD Public Information Officer Lt. James Muniz stated in an official press release made available to the Herald Press on Thursday. “Officers were also dispatched to the Huffsmith location.”
Law enforcement officials report interviewing numerous people who were at the scene. Based on eye witness accounts, officers were able to arrest 24-year-old Justin Edward Anderson, also of Palestine.
The investigation showed the shooting took place at Anderson’s home and the gun in question belonged to Anderson.
Anderson was still being held in the Anderson County Jail as of presstime Thursday for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, a second degree felony which carries punishment of up to 20 years in prison.
Police continue to investigate the circumstances of this incident.
