PALESTINE — Classic trucks and cars, sports cars, street rods and motorcycles of all kinds will be featured in the Congo Truck Club’s 12th annual Truck, Car & Bike Show set for Saturday, July 12 in Palestine.
Sponsored by Ben E. Keith Distributing, the show will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Ben E. Keith parking lot (2019 W. Oak St.).
“We encourage the public to come out and see the vehicles and help us judge them for the show,” Congo Truck Club Vice President Garland Wilson Jr. said. “Last year we had about 65 entries from Shreveport, Dallas, Fort Worth, Longview, Tyler, Fairfield, Buffalo, Corsicana, Athens and other areas.”
Prizes will include Best of Show, Best Engine, Best Paint and Best Interior, as well as trophies for first, second and third place.
“We let the public judge the different classes,” Wilson said. “It's fun for the whole family — even the kids enjoy looking at the cars.”
The event is free and open to the public.
“We enjoy restoring cars and fixing them up and making them look good,” Wilson said. “We will have plenty of antique cars and trucks, as well as new trucks — really something for everyone.”
Truck classes include: 1900 to 1959, 1960 to 1972, 1988 to present and mini trucks. There also are categories for low rider cars and trucks, pro street cars and trucks; motorcycles, SUVs, imports and “under construction.”
Car classes include: Street rods, classic cars, sports cars and antique cars.
Entry starts at 10 a.m. with the cut-off at 3 p.m. Entry fee is $25 per vehicle. Proceeds from the show will go to the club’s scholarship fund.
Trophies will be awarded at 4 p.m.
Food and beverages will be available for show participants and the public. Fried chicken plates will be sold for $7, featuring chili beans, potato salad, drink and dessert for $7. Sodas and water also will be available to purchase.
