PALESTINE — Car enthusiasts will have the opportunity to view more than 60 classic cars, trucks, street rods and motorcycles during the Congo Truck Club’s 12th annual Truck, Car & Bike Show this weekend.
Sponsored by Ben E. Keith Distributing, the show will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday in the Ben E. Keith parking lot (2019 W. Oak St.).
“We encourage the public to come out and see the vehicles and help us judge them for the show,” Congo Truck Club Vice President Garland Wilson Jr. said. “Last year we had about 65 entries from Shreveport, Dallas, Fort Worth, Longview, Tyler, Fairfield, Buffalo, Corsicana, Athens and other areas.”
Prizes will include Best of Show, Best Engine, Best Paint and Best Interior, as well as trophies for first, second and third place.
“We let the public judge the different classes,” Wilson said. “It's fun for the whole family — even the kids enjoy looking at the cars.”
The event is free and open to the public.
“We enjoy restoring cars and fixing them up and making them look good,” Wilson said. “We will have plenty of antique cars and trucks, as well as new trucks — really something for everyone.”
Entry starts at 10 a.m. with the cut-off at 3 p.m. Entry fee is $25 per vehicle. Proceeds from the show will go to the club’s scholarship fund. Trophies will be awarded at 4 p.m.
Food and beverages will be available for show participants and the public. Fried chicken plates will be sold for $7, featuring chili beans, potato salad, drink and dessert for $7. Sodas and water also will be available to purchase.
