The Anderson County Sheriff’s Office’s investigation into a rash of burglaries and thefts in the Elkhart area has led to the arrest of an Elkhart man.
Jonathan Blaine Faulks, 19, of Elkhart, was arrested on a burglary of a habitation warrant Monday following an investigation on a burglary that occurred Saturday on CR 162 in Elkhart.
Among the items stolen were a wheelchair, push mower, canned goods, electric chainsaw and a refrigerator.
“Patrol Deputy Don Myers Sr. took the original report and through his investigation it was turned over to Investigator Ronnie Foster, who established a suspect and got a warrant,” Sheriff Greg Taylor said Tuesday. “We’ve had a rash of burglaries and thefts in the Elkhart area. We believe this young man to be a suspect in other burglaries and thefts in that area.”
A wheelchair and most of the canned goods were recovered.
Faulks is currently in the Anderson County Jail on a $15,000 bond.
“Anyone with information on any of the thefts or burglaries in the Elkhart area or any other area are encouraged to call with information,” Taylor said.
Those with information can call Foster at the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office at 903-729-6068 or Crime Stoppers at 903-729-8477.
“I want to remind people to know their serial numbers and the make and model of their possessions. If they are stolen, it helps us tremendously,” Taylor said. “It makes property identification much faster if we can get a positive identification on the property and there’s no dispute.”
