Woman killed in two-vehicle crash

PALESTINE — A  young Palestine woman was killed in a two-vehicle wreck early Saturday morning, about 2.5 miles south of Palestine.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, Jasmine Elizabeth Thomas, 18, of Palestine, was driving a 2012 Ford Mustang northbound on U.S. 287/Texas 19 South when she drove into the southbound lane at 4:34 a.m. Saturday, striking an 18-wheeler, a 2005 Volvo tractor towing a 2007 Wabash trailer, driven by Donald Robert Cobb of Sour Lake.

DPS Trooper Lynn Hubert investigated the wreck. Thomas was pronounced dead at the scene by Anderson County Justice of Peace Precinct 1 Gary Thomas.

Thomas was a 2012 graduate of Elkhart High School and was attending Star College of Cosmetology in Tyler.

Services for Thomas will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Herrington/Land of Memory Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Doug Washburn officiating. Burial will follow at Liberty Cemetery in Bradford under the direction of Herrington/Land of Memory Funeral Home.
