PALESTINE — A Longview man remained in fair condition in a Tyler hospital Monday following a one-vehicle motorcycle wreck Friday near Montalba on Texas 19.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety’s report, Robert Flechtner, 23, of Longview, was traveling southwest on Texas 19 at 8:20 p.m. Friday on a Honda motorcycle at an “extremely high rate of speed” when the motorcycle hit a curb on the left at an unsafe speed and ran off the road to the right, overturning several times and ejecting the driver. The motorcycle came to rest on the right side facing the southwest.

Flechtner was care-flighted to Trinity Mother Frances Hospital in Tyler. As of Monday, a hospital official confirmed he was in fair condition.

Texas DPS Corp. Chad Sparkman investigated the wreck.
