The Anderson County Literacy Council is in need of tutors and is asking the community to help.
“We are in desperate need of tutors to reach the non-English speaking population to help them learn to read and write and speak English,” ACLC Chairman Maxine Barnette said. “We need tutors for the working population who can’t attend the morning class, but who could attend an evening class.
“They need to gain more knowledge in order to help them achieve their goals.”
Currently, there are students on a waiting list for an evening class.
“We need caring tutors who can let us know what hours they can teach,” Barnette said. “Then that will allow us to match students to tutors in time for the Nov. 5 registration.”
Classes are held at the ACLC, located at 1101 N. Fowler St. in Palestine.
