Two East Texans held on drug charges

PALESTINE — Two East Texans remained in the Anderson County Jail Monday on drug charges after a traffic stop for reckless driving on Texas 155 north of Palestine on Friday afternoon.

According to Anderson County Sheriff Greg Taylor, deputies were dispatched to the area after reports of a reckless driver were called in to the ASCO at about 3 p.m. on Friday.

“Deputy Donnie Myers and Chief Deputy Troy Black (in separate patrol units) stopped the vehicle — a white Buick Regal,” Taylor said. “The suspects appeared to be intoxicated by something.”

The officers got permission to search the vehicle and, during that search, found a cigarette dipped in PCP — known in drug and law enforcement circles as a “wet” — in the middle console.

Officers arrested Larry Tice, 29, of LaRue, and female suspect Tara Michelle Halsey, 34, of Teague, for possession of a controlled substance - PG 1, 104 grams.

Tice is being held on a $10,000 bond and Halsey’s bond was set at $7,500.
