Two Palestine High School class reunions are planned this weekend including the PHS Class of 1959 and the PHS Class of 1968.
The PHS Class of 1959 will hold its reunion from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Bella Sera Ranch in Palestine. The reunion will afford class members a great opportunity to see friends and remember old times. All members of the class are encouraged to attend.
PHS Class of 1968
The PHS Class of 1968 will conclude with its reunion on Saturday. All former members of the class throughout the years are welcomed and invited to attend, as are any former teachers. Casual dress is requested. Class photos will be taken and a reunion CD containing contact information on classmates will be available. PHS Wildcats Class of ‘68 T-shirts and caps will be sold.
Plans for Saturday evening include a dinner and dance at John H. Reagan School from 7 p.m. to 1 a.m. A program will begin at 7 p.m. followed by dinner catered by Bishop’s Brisket House. A special observance will be conducted in memory of deceased classmates, teachers and school staff. Live music will be provided by the Elektratones from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. The floor will be set up with an area for dancing. Dress for the evening will be casual.
The cost is $75 per couple or $35 per single. Spaghetti dinner fund-raiser set Friday
A spaghetti dinner fund-raiser “Operation Save Our Pepa” will be held Friday to benefit disabled veteran Robert L. Maddux.
The dinner will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3907, located at 3800 W. Oak St. Cost of the dinner is $8, which includes spaghetti with meat sauce, green salad, garlic bread, choice of beverage (tea, soda, water or Kool-aid™) and dessert.
Maddux served nine years in the Marine Corps.
A silent auction will be held as well as a raffle for a hunting pack and a dinner and movie for two. Tickets are $1 each.
