PCT sets auditions for musical "Annie"

PALESTINE — The Palestine Community Theatre will hold auditions for its upcoming summer production of the classic musical “Annie” at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Texas Theater.

“Actors and actresses ages 8 to 98 are encouraged to audition. Everyone who auditions will be expected to sing,” a PCT news release said.

Those auditioning for the role of Annie will sing “Maybe.” Others auditioning for these specific roles will sing the following songs: orphans, “Hard-Knock Life”; Rooster and Lily, “Easy Street”; Hannigan, “Little Girls” and “Easy Street”; Grace, “I Think I’m Gonna Like It Here” and “You Won’t Be an Orphan for Long”; WB, “Something Was Missing”; FDR and other adults, “Tomorrow.”

Those who come unprepared will be taught the song “Tomorrow” to sing at auditions.

Show dates are July 19-21, July 26-28 and Aug.2-4. Rehearsals will begin shortly after Director Chaundra Dantin has made her casting selections.

The Texas Theater is located at 213 W. Crawford St. in downtown Palestine.
