The Palestine Herald-Press will hold its 13th annual Stocking Stuffers Toy Drive this year, collecting toys for children in need.
“Last year we provided toys for more than 400 children in Palestine,” Stocking Stuffers Toy Drive Coordinator Pequita Casteel said. “We want to take care of the children of Anderson County and put a smile on their faces on Christmas morning.”
Each year, the public helps with the toy drive, dropping off unwrapped toys at the newspaper office for boys and girls (infants to age 12).
“Our community always does so good coming together to make our toy drive a success. We couldn't do it without the support of our community,” Casteel said. “No matter how big or small, each toy brought in brings happiness to a child.”
Toys will be accepted through 5 p.m. Monday, Dec. 18 at the newspaper office, located at 519 N. Elm St.
“We hope to have the toys delivered to their families by Dec. 20,” Casteel said. “We already have about 300 children signed up for the toy drive.”
Applications for the toy drive will be accepted from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. today, 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Friday and from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday at the newspaper office.
