For the fifth time, Palestine will welcome a local hero home.
The fifth annual Adrian Peterson Day is set for Saturday, June 11 this year, with a parade followed by an event at Reagan Park.
The parade will begin at 10 a.m., with a day full of events to follow at Reagan Park, including volleyball, softball, basketball and more.
There will also be a tennis tournament hosted by the JNF Tennis and Education Foundation. To enter the tournament, contact j. Mark Fisher at Fisher.email@example.com.
Event organizers ask everyone to remember to bring chairs to sit in and request that no one park on the grass at the park.

PETERSON TO HOST FOOTBALL CAMP
The Friday following Adrian Peterson Day the NFL All-Pro running back will be back in Palestine to teach some of the youth of the area some skills.
Peterson is hosting his first-ever football camp at Palestine High School on June 17, with two sessions running.
A session for kids ages 7 years old through 10 will begin registration from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m., with camp to follow from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
A second session for kids ages 11 through 14 will register from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m., with the camp running from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The cost of the camp is $5, and each camper will receive a t-shirt and picture both signed by Peterson, as well as the opportunity to win prizes during contests.
Another camp will be held June 18 at the University of Texas at Tyler, beginning at 8 a.m. registration for the younger group.
