Dogwood Trails Assisted Living & Memory Care is planning a week-long schedule of activities to celebrate National Assisted Living Week, Sept. 8-13. This year’s theme is “Homemade Happiness.”
“Please join us as we celebrate National Assisted Living Week. Meet the residents, some of our special volunteers, see our home, and have fun with us as we celebrate our own ‘Homemade Happiness,’” Dogwood Trails Assisted Living Activity Director Debbie Wesson said.
The week will kick off on Sunday with Grandparents Day with events scheduled Monday through Friday.
“Many grandparents remember the happiness of many days at home making homemade ice cream. We will do the same at ‘our home’ as we honor grandparents as well as the beginning of Assisted Living Week. The treats begin at 1 p.m. Monday. At 2 p.m., we invite the community for some homemade fun playing bingo. We will have chips, dips and prizes,” Wesson said.
At 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, bring your dominoes and friends for “homemade” competition.
On Wednesday, Dogwood Trails will have fried pies and coffee at 10 a.m.
“We will have great fun with homemade memories as we remember the good lo’ days and share those special memories of ‘how it used to be,’” Wesson said.
A homemade dinner will be held at noon Thursday. Those planning to attend must RSVP to Dogwood Trails by Monday.
“We will end the week with homemade apple treats at 1 p.m. Friday. Anyone wanting to enter an apple dish, we would love to have you,” Wesson said.
First-place winner in the homemade apple treats contest will receive $100. Second-place winner will receive $50 and the third-place winner will win $25.
