Car care clinic designed for women

Palestine Herald-Press

PALESTINE — Women who are interested in learning more about their car — such as how to check tire pressure and when and how to check their oil — are invited to attend a free car care clinic next week.

Bratz Tire Pros will host the clinic from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 17, located at 508 N. Elm St. in Palestine.

“We did this for the first time last year and had about 25 to 30 participants,” Bratz Tire Pros Owner Joe Brooks said. “We fielded a lot of questions from A/C to brakes to tires. We try to give a simplistic approach to how things work and how important it is to know how it works.”

Along with an open forum for questions, women will learn a variety of information about car maintenance including:

• How to check tire pressure

• How to measure the tread on tires

• Where to find the correct tire and size for your car

• What’s under the hood

• When and how to check oil

• How brakes work

• Shock absorbers and struts

• Warning lights

• What items to have in  your car if it should break down

• What regular maintenance is really necessary

Free refreshments and giveaways are planned.

“We will be doing giveaways throughout the event — free oil changes, flushes, rotating tires — O’Reilly Auto Parts has donated some things too,” Brooks said.

After the class, Bratz Tire Pros employees will show each participant how to find things on their own car.

“We are just trying to help women learn about their car so they will feel better about it,” Brooks said.

After attending the clinic, the attendees will receive 10 percent off any service.

“We may start doing these clinics quarterly or even monthly depending on how well it’s taken,” Brooks said.

RSVP to attend clinic by noon Wednesday, Jan. 16 or by calling 903-729-0121.
