Toy drive update: Toys still needed for areas kids

Palestine Herald-Press

PALESTINE — The Palestine Herald-Press will extend its collection of toys for the 13th annual “Stocking Stuffers” Christmas Toy Drive to Wednesday.

The newspaper office holds the toy drive annually to benefit local children in conjunction with Grace Temple Church of God in Christ.

“I want to remind our readers this year’s Stocking Stuffers toy drive is winding down and we still have under privileged children who need Christmas toys. This toy drive was able to collect and distribute toys for 400 children last year and we hope to provide for that many or more again,” Herald-Press Publisher Gary Connor said Friday. “I want to thank the many local businesses and individuals who have so generously given of their time and resources so more children will have a Merry Christmas.”

Unwrapped toys will be accepted at the newspaper office Monday through Wednesday and distributed to the families before Christmas.

Herald-Press subscribers who bring in a toy worth at least $8 can receive a 25 percent discount if they renew their subscription for six months or more.

New Herald-Press subscribers who bring in a toy worth at least $8 can get four months of newspapers for $25.

“The Palestine Chamber of Commerce helped us collect toys at their annual Christmas party this week and we thank them for that opportunity and all those who brought a toy. The response was tremendous,” Connor said.

The newspaper office is located at 519 N. Elm St.
