Spa adds second Far-infrared Slimming Wrap suit

PALESTINE — Due to an overwhelming success rate, Jamie's Therapeutic Touch Day Spa has added a second Far-infrared Slimming Wrap suit to its treatment list.

“This treatment has been such a success and clients are losing so much weight and loving that their pain is disappearing, that we added another machine,” spa owner Jamie Pettiette Rhone said.

The treatment uses targeted heat to penetrate deeply into the body's tissues and push out the toxins to improve metabolic function and cleanse the body — burning up to 1,400 calories in a 40-minute treatment.

Jamie's also has welcomed back licensed medical massage therapists Kathy Klauser and Melissa Gil, who have brought with them a combined 20 years of experience and a new treatment (by Gil) — cupping.

Cupping is one of the oldest methods of traditional Chinese medicine during which glass cups are warmed using a treated cotton ball or other flammable substance, let, then placed inside the cup.

The cup is turned upside-down and placed over a specific area, creating a vacuum that anchors the cup to the skin and pulls it upward on the inside of the glass. That process is believed to open up the skin’s pores, which helps to stimulate the flow of blood and create an avenue for toxins to be drawn out of the body.

Cupping is used primarily to treat respiratory conditions such as bronchitis, asthma, and congestion; arthritis; gastrointestinal disorders; and certain types of pain and swelling.
