Following a tip from local parents, an Elkhart man was arrested by Anderson County Sheriff’s Office deputies Thursday afternoon for online solicitation of a minor under 14.
According to Sheriff Greg Taylor, 23-year-old Joshua Allen Yeager was arrested by Deputy Brian Chason at about 3:30 p.m. on Thursday at a residence on Calhoun Street in Palestine.
“We received a complaint on Wednesday, and an investigation by Chason led to his arrest (Thursday),” Taylor said.
The sheriff congratulated the victim’s parents for being diligent about their child’s activities on the Internet and encourages all parents to do the same.
“Young girls, especially, become enamored or tricked by older men on the Internet,” Taylor said. “It is important that parents be wary of this, because even in a small county like ours, there are people out there that target children online.
“Stay on guard, pay attention and stay in contact with your child.”
Yeager remained in the Anderson County Jail Thursday on $10,000 bond.
