Adrian Gonzales had a hand — or foot — in all three goals as the Palestine boys soccer team won its second-straight match Tuesday, topping Chapel Hill 3-0.
Rodriguez first set-up Kaleb Garcia for a first-half goal that let the Wildcats take a 1-0 lead into the half.
Then, Rodriguez got onto the scoresheet himself, converting a throw-in from Alec Meyers into a goal to make it 2-0.
He later found Wilmer Marquez, who slotted home the Wildcats third-and-final score.
The win was Palestine’s second-straight after the Wildcats defeated Center, 3-1, in their final match of the Wildcat Classic. Overall, the Wildcats went 2-1-1 at their home-hosted tournament.
On the girls’ side, the Ladycats went 1-3-0 at the Athens tournament, defeating Lufkin Hudson on Thursday. Monday, the Ladycats drew with Chapel Hill, 2-2, despite outshooting the Lady Bulldogs 22-3.
Xochitl Zavala scored both Palestine goals, coming off of assists from Mackenzie Callaway and Alyssa Claytor.
The boys return to action at 2 p.m. today when they take on Pittsburg at the Pine Tree tournament, where they continue to play through the weekend.
The girls travel to the Hallsville tournament beginning Friday and continuing Saturday.
