Our Town: Band with Palestine ties nominated for music awards

PALESTINE — Texas original heavy blues/rock band, the “Alan Fox Band” of Fort Worth — which has East Texas and Palestine connections — has been nominated for four awards from the 23rd Annual Los Angeles Music Awards.

The band, which includes Alan Fox of Carthage, Donnie Pendleton of Fort Worth, Donny Hart of Arlington, Greg Cagle of Palestine and Terry Salyer of Kilgore, is represented and sponsored by Aaron Avenue Records in Texas.

The band has been nominated for “Music Group of the Year” and “Hard Rock Band of the Year” with long term front man and vocalist Donny Hart nominated for “Male Vocalist” and Donnie Pendleton taking the nomination for “Guitarist of the Year.”

“On behalf of the Alan Fox Band, we’re extremely grateful and overwhelmed at not one nomination but four,” Pendleton said. “We’re so thankful to all our family, friends, fans and sponsors for supporting us over the years and of course voting.

“The Texas twin guitar sound of the ‘Alan Fox Band’ is excited to be bringing it to Hollywood in September and November when we get to rock the West Coast!”

Known as a “high-energy band that will grab the audience and propel them into a new dimension,” the Alan Fox Band will be performing at the 23rd Annual Los Angeles Music Awards on Sept. 26 at the Whiskey Go Go in Hollywood, and also at the Avalon Theater in Hollywood during the awards night Nov. 14.

The nominations were announced in June at the Los Angeles Music Awards Nominee and Press Event at the world-famous Whiskey A Go-Go in Hollywood. The Los Angeles Music Awards is open to independent artists and bands who are unsigned or on independent (“indie”) labels.

Pendleton (, who last year was voted “ETX Guitarist of the Year” from the  East Texas Music Awards, has had a roller coaster year of success — including an endorsement deal with aluminum guitar specialists Goulding Lindsay Wilson Guitars out of the United Kingdom and is currently recording, with the rest of the band, a compilation CD with Aaron Avenue Records.

Their latest single and video releases “She Makes Me Hot” and “Do Me” are receiving airplay in the U.S. and abroad, both available on iTunes and CD Baby. The band’s newest tracks “Never Learn” and “El Cabron” are set to be released later this year.

While the band has been around for more than a decade, the current lineup started building in late 2005, according to band members.
