Members of The Action Fund executive committee met recently to plan the upcoming member recruitment luncheon set for Oct. 1.
The Action Fund is a giving circle — a group of philanthropic individuals dedicated to building a better community and a brighter future for Palestine and our children.
“We are creating the next best thing for Palestine,” said Jackson Hanks, member of the TAF committee. “Through this fund raising effort we are preparing our community for a successful future.”
The luncheon is planned 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 1 Ben E. Keith, located 2019 West Oak St. in Palestine. The program begins at noon.
“The luncheon is a an opportunity for everyone to learn more about The Action Fund and how you can partner with your friends and neighbors to positively impact the lives of individuals and families in Palestine and Anderson County,” said Ahnise Summers, chairperson of The Action Fund. “You can be a partner in helping sustain a positive environment for our community.
“Everyone who joins this year will be a charter member of The Action Fund,” Summers said.
The Action Fund executive committee set a goal to give away $50,000 in 2013 to qualified organizations.
“These are impact gifts to the community,” said Summers.
Deadline for membership and donations is Dec. 31.
Principally, the luncheon is a member recruitment event for The Action Fund.
“We recruit members who are willing to participate in philanthropy guaranteeing a better future for our community and area,” Summers said.
Members of The Action Fund executive committee include chairperson, Ahnise Summers, David Barnard, Jackson Hanks, Gay Fuller, Linda Dickens, Cad Williams, Freta Parkes, Allyson Mitchell and Dorinda Smith.
Those planning to attend the lunch are asked to RSVP with Linda Dickens at 903-724-3435.
