PALESTINE —

Springtime is here, according to the calendar, and some would say that calls for a citywide celebration – complete with warm sunshine, blooming dogwoods, sugary funnel cakes, music and more.

Providing such, the 76th Annual Dogwood Trails Festival will take place Saturday in historic downtown Palestine.

This year’s theme is “Get Your Kicks on Loop 256,” a nostalgic 1950s and 1960s road trip. Festival highlights will include live music and entertainment, a parade, Kids Zone, arts and crafts and more.

“The festival is a great way to kick off the three weekends of the Dogwood Celebration,” Marc Mitchell, executive director of the Palestine Area Chamber of Commerce, said. “We have great entertainment and activities planned for the whole family.”

A $1 gate charge will be required for admission to the festival. Children 12 and under will be admitted free. All proceeds from the gate go to support local nonprofit organizations.
