1 killed, 2 injured in Palestine crash; cause, victim identities still under investigation

PALESTINE — One person was killed and two injured in a three-vehicle wreck at the intersection of Loop 256 and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard on Friday afternoon.

The crash, involving a green Ford Windstar minivan, a silver Ford Fiesta and a tractor-trailer, occurred at about 3:30 p.m., with Palestine Police Department officers, Palestine Firefighters and EMS responding to the scene.

According to preliminary reports, the Fiesta was preparing to turn right in the eastbound right turn lane on MLK as the minivan was crossing Loop 256 headed westbound on MLK.

The tractor-trailer, headed south on Loop 256, hit the minivan pushing it into the Fiesta before turning sideways on the side of the Loop.

PPD Sgt. James Muniz reported that two people were injured and transported to Palestine Regional Medical Center — one of whom appeared to be severely injured.

A third person died at the scene.

The cause of the wreck and names of the victims are still under investigation.
