Members of the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter No. 991 recently presented donations of furniture, clothing and a mobility scooter gathered as a result of a drive held for a Teague family who lost their home in a fire on July 1.
Along with those donations, the family of Vietnam veteran Steve Pingleton, his wife, Lola, and their and their daughter, Angie, also were presented a check from America Legion Post 238 in Teague.
“(The family) was elated that someone that didn’t even know them would care enough about their family to donate so much,” VVA President Allan Ayo said. “You can never give too much of yourselves and of your donations.
“We at our VVA Chapter 991 have made a vow to continue to serve the needs of all our veterans and our communities,” Ayo added, “and most especially under such extreme circumstances and devastation as this family has experienced.”
Monetary donations can still be made to the Joseph S. Pingleton Fire Fund, Freestone Credit Union, P.O. Box 210, Teague, TX, 75860.
