PALESTINE — More than 150 classic, antique and special-interest cars are expected to be on display during the Cars of Palestine’s 28th annual Car Show on Saturday during the first weekend of the Dogwood Trails Celebration.

The car show will be held downtown on Spring Street near Kroger and behind First Presbyterian Church from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. — within walking distance to the Dogwood Trails Festival.

“A lot of people like to see these types of cars. It’s fun and a good event to bring the kids to see,” Cars of Palestine board member Jimmy Alford told the Herald-Press Wednesday. “We will have all types of muscle cars from the 1960s era, trucks, hot rods, a little bit of everything for everybody all the way  from the 1920s on up.”

The North Texas Mustang Club is expected to bring about 50 Mustangs to the show — and many will be participating in the Dogwood Trails Parade before the show starts.

Classic and special interest auto enthusiasts can compete in the car show for 48 awards ranging from Best of Show, cash and merchandise. Two awards will be given in each class. Special awards will include Mayor’s Choice Award, Chief of Police Choice Award, Sheriff’s Choice Award, People’s Choice Award, Best Standard Paint Award and Best Custom Paint Award.

Car classes will include the following:

• Class 1 — Pre-1932 original/restored cars & trucks (except street rods)
