Palestine police seeking suspect in armed robbery at Subway

PALESTINE — Palestine police are asking for help in identifying the suspect in a recent armed robbery case.

Police reports indicate, officers with the department responded to a call concerning the incident just after 5 a.m., Wednesday at the Subway sandwich chain, located in the 2900 block of West Oak St.

“The initial report indicated that an armed gunman came up behind an employee as they were about to open the store for the morning,” Palestine Police Department's Public Information Officer Lt. James Muniz said Friday. “The gunman was armed with an unknown type of handgun. Fortunately, no one reported any injuries in the incident.”

According to investigators' reports, the employee was led inside the store and made to open the safe, from which the suspect took an undisclosed amount of cash. Law enforcement officials said the suspect then exited to store and went in an unknown direction.

Police reports indicate the suspect had his face covered with some type of ski mask at the time of the robbery, and was described as wearing a hooded jacket, long pants, sunglasses, and gloves.

The Palestine Police Department is asking anyone with any information concerning this or any other crimes, to call CrimeStoppers at 903-729-TIPS (8477) or the Palestine Police Department at 903-729-2254.
