Re-grand opening set Friday, Sept. 20 for new Palestine Goodwill store

PALESTINE — Doubling the floor space and fully stocking a new store location, Goodwill of East Texas will host a grand-opening of its new Palestine store location on Friday, Sept. 20.

The new store is located at 3824 W. Oak St. at the former Harry’s Building Materials location and offers more than 7,100 square feet of retail space.

Festivities will kick off Friday with a Palestine Area Chamber of  Commerce ribbon-cutting ceremony at 11 a.m. The store will then host a live remote broadcast from KNES-FM from 1 to 3 p.m. This live remote will offer door prizes and giveaways during the two-hour period. Regular store hours will be from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Buzz about the fresh, clean and updated store has been building for months in the Palestine  community.

“Our customers are asking daily about when the new store will open. They know that we have been stockpiling items and the new store will offer wonderful treasures at budget friendly, Goodwill prices,” Goodwill Palestine Store Manager Tamora Clemons said. “The larger store will offer fashion, furniture, household items and fun.”

Not only will there be more capacity for shopping and larger dressing rooms, the new donation area also will provide wide open space for easy access and drop off.

Donations are the key ingredient in providing  the funds for Goodwill’s mission: “To provide skills training and vocational opportunities for people with barriers to employment.”

Goodwill’s plan for the Palestine community is to fulfill this mission by providing more services such as counseling and job readiness programs.

“The Palestine community has always been extremely supportive of our little store. We feel this new and larger store is an opportunity to give back in services what has been given for so many years. We are pleased with the excitement Palestine has shown toward the remodeling process. It has taken us a bit longer than we anticipated, but we love the result and we know our customers will as well,” Goodwill of East Texas Executive Director Kim Lewis said. “Goodwill is proud to offer a better, more convenient shopping experience for our customers and to be able to expand our mission in an area which has great need.”
