A week after Palestine’s season came to an end, head coach Booker Bowie is retiring.
Palestine Independent School District Superintendent Dr. Thomas A. Wallis confirmed Thursday afternoon that Bowie has decided to retire. Friday will be Bowie's last day.

BETHEL — All the Wildcat defense needed was a little time.
After a slow start, the Cayuga defense found its stride once district play started and has gotten better now that the Wildcats are in the playoffs.
“We lost some key players from last year so we knew it was going to be a matter of time,” Cayuga head coach Tommy Allison said. “The kids have taken pride in defense and they are playing well right now.”

The Mexia Blackcats were too much for Palestine Friday night in a Class 3A-Region III, Division II, bi-district 36-14 win at Longhorn Stadium.

BETHEL — The Cayuga Wildcats may not have been able to ask for a better start to the playoffs.
Cayuga opened the postseason with a 64-21 win over Beckville Friday night in the Class A-Region III, Division II, bi-district game at Bullard High School.

ROUND ROCK — Slocum’s Logan Foster heads home with a medal in his final cross country race of his high school career.
The Slocum senior took the bronze medal Saturday afternoon, getting third place in the Class A state cross country meet at Old Settler’s Park in Round Rock.
