Local Pitch, Hit & Run event

Elkhart will play host to the local Pitch, Hit and Run event at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Elkhart High School baseball teams home field, “The Backyard.”

Pitch, Hit and Run is the official skills competition of Major League Baseball, and players in each age group compete in the three different skills during the event.

There are four age groups — 7 and 8 years old, 9 and 10 years old, 11 and 12 years old, and 13 and 14 years old — and the overall winner from each group along with the individual pitching, hitting and running winner move on to the Sectional competition.

The event is free to enter, and sign-ups are held prior to the event starting on Saturday. To enter, prospective players must bring a copy of their birth certificate to sign-ups.
